  1. NeXeN i was saying the maven central source api has limit, not the bot
  2. NeXeN possibly....
  3. deebo add a bit of jitter and set useragent to "i'm definitely google chrome!"
  4. * NeXeN laughs
  5. NeXeN i'm sure google has something embedded into chrome ...some signature of some sort, that they can use to determine
  6. Para It does, this is publicly known.
  7. Para There's no true Incognito in Chrome.
  8. Para nor profile separation
  9. dreamreal I' thinking of adding a podcast to BCN - it'd just be narrated forms of the articles, human-recorded. Would anyone be interested in this?
  10. Bombe Depends on who does the recordings!
  11. dreamreal Probably me, since I'm doing most of the writing
  12. Bombe I would generelly not care at all, unless you get, like, Morgen Freeman or somebody like that.
  13. dreamreal *nod* definitely not an option
  14. Bombe Yeah, thought so.
  15. dreamreal And I'm not going to do automated, either; I could, but then I'd have to rewrite the articles to generate an appropriate script and that not only feels exhaustive but... soulless.
  16. Bombe That it would absolutely be, yes.
  17. dreamreal It seems to work for a lot of fools on facebook and youtube, but ... it makes ME recoil and if my reaction is "no" I figure anyone like me would have the same reaction
  18. dreamreal there are ways to do it REALLY well and the models are actually really good at it but... again, no. The effort to do it really well is actually HIGHER than the effort to just record a podcast with the equipment I have at home.
  19. dreamreal https://bytecode.news/posts/2026/10/i-paid-people-to-try-and-follow-my-readme
  20. javabot dreamreal's title: "Terence Eden: I Paid People to Try and Follow My README | ByteCode.News"
  21. Para Huh, I hit semantic satiation in the sentence "His solution for ActivityBot, his ActivityPub bot project"
  22. Para I like that anyways, there's bazillion lines of terrible docs out there because no one bothers to read what they've written from the perspective of a person who isn't you.
  23. dreamreal yeah
  24. dreamreal I hate that sentence but... I mean... err....
  25. Para It's a bit lyrical.
  26. dreamreal I'm a lyricist! ... grrr, I really need to fix it, don't I. Do you think the subphrase is even NECESSARY? I mean, activityBot != activitypub, but they're pretty similar, maybe the link is enough?
  27. Para Issue is that it's entirely factual and there's no redundancy and the grammar is correct, so technically speaking it's a fine sentence.
  28. dreamreal `His solution for ActivityBot, a bot for ActivityPub, was to recruit...`
  29. dreamreal gooder?
  30. Para would "...,an ActivityPub bot," fit? It'd get rid of the "for Activity" repetition.
  31. dreamreal Sure, and saved
  32. dreamreal I keep thinking about putting activitypub in nevet but every time I consider it I'm just like noooooooooo
  33. Para Well, you'd have the bot interface API right 'ere.
  34. Para Surely you can run a single-file PHP application!
  35. dreamreal I can indeed but I don't want to run a separate process for activitypub - that protocol is madness
