  1. deebo ?? paste
  2. deebo https://pastebin.com/mp4Cy5vh asked a local qwen 3.5 about pattern matching and destructuring in jdk24 and it's internal thinking process was spiraling, guess it needs a bit of tuning to not be that intense :)
  3. deebo even told itself: "Okay, stop hallucinating JEP numbers."
  4. kcomhnall heh - now, I want to create one and name it "Jep Numbers".
  5. kcomhnall how many people must I bring over to Java land to be considered a Java Champion?
  6. dreamreal 14,283,826.π
  7. kcomhnall hm, so... just speak at a few conferences and I'm in?
  8. dreamreal unlikely. I've RUN a few conferences and I'm not in. :D
  9. kcomhnall gotta invite other champions
  10. dreamreal Did that.
  11. dreamreal I've been rejected a few times already. :D
  12. waz dreamreal: you've done more than that, you helped some achieve Java Champion.
  13. dreamreal Well, I think most if not all would have gotten there without me, so i can't really claim that in good conscience :D
  14. dreamreal I've been arguing with ron pressler on reddit :/
  15. dreamreal https://www.reddit.com/r/java/comments/1ui2dyh/security_baked_into_the_jvm_why_fork_apache_river/
  16. cheeser ron has a lovely bedside manner sometimes.
  17. dreamreal He's pissing me off by burying genuinely useful information. I'm writing ANOTHER reply through gritted teeth, editing like MAD because he finally pissed me off
  18. dreamreal "oh, i'm gonna lastword you by actually saying what you were asking for in the first response"
  19. dreamreal screw you, dude!
  20. dreamreal there, it's out of my system, now I can write something a little wiser
  21. cheeser probably could hardly be any less wiser ;)
  22. dreamreal Oh you should see the draft I'm deleting :D
  23. dreamreal Apparently I can be a little acidic when I'm frustrated and sarcastic
  24. cheeser "that's my secret: i'm always angry."
  25. dreamreal The best line from Hulk, ever
  26. cheeser counter point: "Puny god."
  27. dreamreal Although "puny god" comes ... damn it
  28. cheeser hahaha
  29. cheeser same movie, too.
  30. Para End of good Marvel movies IMO.
  31. dreamreal I wish all the superhero movies would lose the quips
  32. Para They found their formula, too bad I don't like the formula.
  33. cheeser Para: tom holland's spider-man movies have been great.
  34. Para dreamreal: Also the exact coutnerbalance of DC's grimdark is something everyone could also just dump away.
  35. dreamreal I saw supergirl: I thought it was okay, it relied on a lot of nonsense and the MC being attractive so you didn't notice the story's utter lack of depth
  36. dreamreal I thought it was 1/5 moonfalls
  37. Para cheeser: Well yes, although technically they're Sony's movies but yeah.
  38. cheeser i might see that this weekend
  39. dreamreal which, well, 2+ moonfalls was right there, so it could have been a lot worse
  40. Para The newest Spider-Man actually looks really interesting trailer wise, so at least the trailer is good.
  41. cheeser Para: agreed. super excited for that one. but spider-man was my first love so i'll watch it regardless.
  42. dreamreal spider-man is how I learned to read
  43. dreamreal I grew up in a hospital room: there was nothing else to do!
  44. Para Most Finns learn to read by reading weekly Donald Duck comic.
  45. cheeser i grew up in the sticks. there was nothing ever to do. :(
  46. Para I wonder how many good readers the world nowadays loses when sickly kids can have the whole Internet with them.
  47. Para (now that's a proper front loaded statement)
  48. Para cheeser: Not even cycling around trying to discover the elusive woods porn?
  49. dreamreal I dunno, I am not sure having sick kids is a win, period. I got lucky: my grandfather, um, knew people. When I was born he was on the phone with effin' Johns Hopkins within an hour, telling them what they were gonna do. And they did it. The downstream effect of that is that kids who are born TODAY with my problems have quick remedies, to the point where it can be hard to even tell they had the
  50. dreamreal problem.
  51. cheeser every house around me housed religious family of one sort or another. the opportunity for shenanigans were very few.
  52. cheeser dreamreal: i think you misread Para's intent there. :)
  53. dreamreal cheeser: I did not. I just didn't care. :D
  54. dreamreal I'd have gladly traded every last thing I know and learned from that period to not endure any of that crap.
  55. Para On a yet another tangent, I highly recommend Spider Noir on Prime.
  56. cheeser then maybe I did because "we need more sick kids" is not the takeaway I came up with. :)
  57. cheeser Para: i forgot I was in the middle of that! tonight.
  58. dreamreal I wasn't saying "more" - I was saying "at all."
  59. Para I've also had the thought analysis at some point on how much of my knowledge and certain "waste" I could've/should've/wanted to trade on better friendships and such.
  60. Para But eh, I guess I found my answers or at least pece with the topic long ago.
  61. dreamreal I mean, I've had conversations with doctors where they were like "... what."
  62. dreamreal Hey, it was a long time ago, when I was born my doctors gave my father the choice to just let nature take its course
  63. dreamreal the first person to point out that I'm apparently unnatural is gonna get kicked, right after I get done laughing at it
  64. sbalmos ... uhhh ...
  65. kcomhnall helps to be a bit unbalanced
  66. sbalmos unless it's a DUI stop
  67. Para You've got a pulse, good enough for me.
  68. sbalmos heheheheh
  69. Para (I don't think they install constant flow artificial hearts to people?)
  70. Para Actually would that even flow...eh whatever.
  71. sbalmos Para: oh they probably do. but there's probably also some tiny speaker in it that plays a 1-second heartbeat audio loop
  72. Para IoT heart, now with customizable heartbeat harmonics
  73. sbalmos dreamreal: you're clearly proof that the Dark Side leads to things some consider... unnatural
  74. dreamreal heh
  75. kcomhnall Para: sounds like a pacemaker
  76. Para My unique biological aspects are just boring :P
  77. dreamreal /nick Darth_Lagoform
  78. kcomhnall lol
  79. Para I apparently have literally unique red blood cell shape which in optical scans looks like genetic anemia.
  80. Para Found this out about half a year ago when I had a confused GP who wouldn't let go. Did a good bunch of genetical testing even towards the end.
  81. Para So what do I win with this? My blood is deep maroon red.
  82. dreamreal Okay, response written. Most of the vitriol excised. #winning
  83. Para Imagine that being an AI thinking mid-prompt.
  84. dreamreal Pfft, you should see what the AIs tell me about my drafts
  85. dreamreal they all start with "first off, clearly you're a genius. But you're an idiot. You're not wrong, but you're never going to win by pointing out your interlocutor's obvious flaws and failures like that."
  86. sbalmos dreamreal: EditorAI rejects your premise, thinks your writing style is more byzantine than King James himself, and believes his thrice-removed cousin Rosey living with some guy named George and his family would probably make a better argument than you wrote
  87. dreamreal Then I point out that I rarely try to win on the internet, and it says "fine, post it" and I edit it all into readable shape regardless.
  88. jreicher dreamreal: "moonfalls"?
