  1. internecine How many people here feel like they’ve brought significantly less value at work because of AI
  2. jreicher internecine: Not me. If anything it's the reverse. The more other people use AI, the more the different way I do my work becomes distinctive.
  3. dreamreal I feel like it's been great as a magnifier. You still have to pay attention, it's like a really junior developer who's FANTASTIC at copy/paste and occasionally reasoning stuff out.
  4. NeXeN internecine: i worked a project with someone who used an llm and i was just hand coding, and there was no lost value. the other dev was a 10x before he found out about llms, but it was a whirlwind
  5. NeXeN there were like uh i dunno 43 days lost to the AI which was hard to remigrate and stuff, since it was moving from php to nuxt
  6. NeXeN honestly, when i think about it, llms are best at porting software from one language to another. save you a lot of time if that is something you have to do. but creativity is not their strong suit
  7. Para NeXeN: Yeh, was thinking more in terms of bitmaps vs vectors.
  8. hwpplayer1 Is it hard to code with Java ?
  9. hwpplayer1 I'll be back later
  10. hwpplayer1 Thanks
  11. hwpplayer1 I'm here though
  12. dreamreal are you :)
  13. Para Any book recommendations on software architecture? One I've got so far is Software Architecture in Practice by Len Bass et.al, but I'm thinking of getting maybe 2-3 books to read over indeterminate period of time.
  14. NeXeN Para: it's quirky, older machines don't run it so well, newer machines it's fabulous, especially 3d
  15. NeXeN but i mean not like in a linear way, like swing, it's kinda still just ok all the time no matter the hardware, but never stellar
  16. jreicher Para: Can you elaborate on what you mean by "software architecture"? My first thought is design patterns, but my guess is you're already familiar with that...
  17. jbosmans Para, i liked uncle bob's clean architecture fwiw
