  1. tilerendering does somebody user SPRING Modulith here? Is it popular, and heavily in use somehow, as of today? I mean I ve been off the Spring/Java world for about 1-2 years now.
  2. tilerendering user = use
  3. jbosmans i've only played around with it, but would definitely use it if i were to start a new/greenfield project
  4. dreamreal I started a greenfield project and while it's useful, I didn't include it because the things it provides aren't really necessary if you have discipline to start with. I don't know about popularity; popularity is anecdata anyway.
  5. dreamreal It's goals aren't toxic. What do you want to use it for?
  6. Chronos My goodness the builder pattern is painfully verbose in Java, heh.
  7. [twisti] @Builder
  8. * [twisti] coughs and hides from dreamreal
  9. dreamreal It's still not clean. @Builder is a good implementation of it but the type erasure problem remains.
  10. dreamreal As far as lombok goes: it's builder is an *excellent* model for the pattern. The pattern itself just still works better with composition than inheritance. Welcome to Java.
  11. dreamreal [twisti]: I'm not anti-lombok: I just think the juice isn't worth the squeeze, and while I respect its authors greatly I don't think it's worth the brittleness. Remember, I'm the one who put lombok in published literature FIRST.
  12. Chronos dreamreal: s/it's builder/its builder/
  13. Chronos ;) :)
  14. Chronos I don't want to introduce any additional dependencies (we're swimming, or maybe drowning, in them already), so I just wrote it the old fashioned verbose way, heh.
  15. Chronos That being said, I consider the builder pattern _so_ useful that I think it deserves first class language support.
  16. dreamreal yeah, I know, I hate the it's/its possessive, it NEVER looks right, it and "judgement" are my achilles' heels in english, per say
  17. dreamreal composition makes the builder pattern work well
  18. Chronos Our mountain of third party dependencies has gotten so severe that in many ways it makes sense to replace many of them with custom code that can be written once and left alone for a few decades.
  19. cheeser dreamreal: those two/three words also bother me :)
  20. dreamreal per se isn't one I struggle with: I always spell "judgment" wrong, 100%, and the possessive is a tossup
  21. cheeser yeah, that first e always feels wrong.
  22. Chronos dreamreal: Doesn't your IRC client let you know when words are misspelled?
  23. dreamreal Chronos: weechat *can* but I never connected aspell
  24. dreamreal Honestly, I usually spell pretty good
  25. jbosmans alas these days proper spelling makes messages look like they're ai generated
  26. jbosmans so i also spell good
  27. jbosmans for blog posts you can do it with css mostly https://will-keleher.com/posts/this-css-makes-me-human/
  28. dreamreal I find the use of the typographic em-dash offensive.
  29. dreamreal Humans shouldn't be using that crap.
  30. Chronos dreamreal: It
  31. Chronos dreamreal: It's pretty disappointing that it's not a single, simple command to turn on spellcheck for your desired language.
  32. dreamreal Chronos: It may actually be pretty simple for weechat: I haven't changed my config for a long, long time
  33. cheeser worying about speling is for pleebs
  34. Shell writing things is what AI is for, nobody needs to learn the English language any more
  35. Para Just nii, kaikki kirjoittaa omalla kielellään ja se on toisen ongelma jos ei ymmärrä.
  36. Shell is that Estonian?
  37. Para Close, Finnish.
  38. * Shell nodnod
  39. Shell 50/50 :p
  40. Para Estonian has a bit more singy look to it as they have more relaxed (=no) rules for vowel mixing.
  41. Shell ahh, ok
  42. Para Kassipoja harjutamine küünte lõikamiseks on kõige parem siis, kui ta on väsinud.
  43. Para :D
  44. Para They also have more umlauts than us, they're definitely ahead of us in that regard.
  45. Shell hehe
  46. dreamreal Dang, Chuck Norris has died. Thanatos must have cheated.
  47. Para Or like Doomguy, maybe he just decided to take the problem to the source.
  48. dreamreal Well, that assumes he'll be SENT to the source...
  49. dreamreal he seemed like a pretty good dude
  50. Para Get supplies first from upstairs?
  51. dreamreal heh, maybe.
