tilerenderingdoes somebody user SPRING Modulith here? Is it popular, and heavily in use somehow, as of today? I mean I ve been off the Spring/Java world for about 1-2 years now.
tilerenderinguser = use
jbosmansi've only played around with it, but would definitely use it if i were to start a new/greenfield project
dreamrealI started a greenfield project and while it's useful, I didn't include it because the things it provides aren't really necessary if you have discipline to start with. I don't know about popularity; popularity is anecdata anyway.
dreamrealIt's goals aren't toxic. What do you want to use it for?

ChronosMy goodness the builder pattern is painfully verbose in Java, heh.
[twisti]@Builder
* [twisti] coughs and hides from dreamreal
dreamrealIt's still not clean. @Builder is a good implementation of it but the type erasure problem remains.
dreamrealAs far as lombok goes: it's builder is an *excellent* model for the pattern. The pattern itself just still works better with composition than inheritance. Welcome to Java.
dreamreal[twisti]: I'm not anti-lombok: I just think the juice isn't worth the squeeze, and while I respect its authors greatly I don't think it's worth the brittleness. Remember, I'm the one who put lombok in published literature FIRST.

Chronosdreamreal: s/it's builder/its builder/
Chronos;) :)
ChronosI don't want to introduce any additional dependencies (we're swimming, or maybe drowning, in them already), so I just wrote it the old fashioned verbose way, heh.
ChronosThat being said, I consider the builder pattern _so_ useful that I think it deserves first class language support.
dreamrealyeah, I know, I hate the it's/its possessive, it NEVER looks right, it and "judgement" are my achilles' heels in english, per say
dreamrealcomposition makes the builder pattern work well
ChronosOur mountain of third party dependencies has gotten so severe that in many ways it makes sense to replace many of them with custom code that can be written once and left alone for a few decades.

cheeserdreamreal: those two/three words also bother me :)
dreamrealper se isn't one I struggle with: I always spell "judgment" wrong, 100%, and the possessive is a tossup
cheeseryeah, that first e always feels wrong.
