  39. NeXeN deebo: yeah it creates a singleton
  40. NeXeN you could use @ServiceConnection and make a singleton .....i like using flyway schema reconstruction to cleanup between test executions
  41. NeXeN you could also use specific names or tags so the static registry produces distinct container entries
  42. NeXeN you know, if it were strictly necessary
  43. deebo it's not, we're mostly trying to keep everything as "springy" as possible without test specific context configurations
  44. NeXeN you could do like a zero config test isolation with @Transactional .....roll back after test so no state leakage
  45. deebo that's what we do, but there's 10+ years of history, lots of different types of tests on different levels
  46. NeXeN you could do property driven dynamic urls with TC_INITSCRIPT.....target them directly in application-test.properties or in the yaml if you use it
  47. NeXeN TestExecutionListener? maybe instead of decorating every class just use the SpringLoaderFactory SPI
  48. NeXeN wait no....SpringFactoriesLoader?
  49. NeXeN damn i'm slydexic
  50. dreamreal Or you could do what I did :D
  51. NeXeN but any @SpringBootTest across the code base would then automagically run the listener without changing code. an invisible global lifecycle listener. you could trunc tables after exectuion then toss it in your spring.factories
  52. dreamreal ... I mean, I included source code
  53. NeXeN what version of spring did you say? nothing 3.x yet ?
  54. NeXeN i have never had to worry about a large history of tests like that, but it seems no dev would need to touch a thing really. as long as they're already annotated
  55. dreamreal It was 4
  56. dreamreal but it wouldn't be a ginormous effort to do it on 3

  86. DoofusCanadensis cue Igor
  87. dreamreal I should have named it igor, or eyegore, those are good names
  88. dreamreal instead I named it "sprout"
  89. dreamreal (I like plants and growing things)
  90. DoofusCanadensis where does 'nevet' come from?
  91. kubyx murica
  92. dreamreal kubyx: okay, the url should resolve now, and: https://bytecode.news/posts/2026/08/am-i-better-because-of-ai and https://bytecode.news/posts/2026/07/identifying-the-actors-what-a-byline-actually-certifies
  93. dreamreal DoofusCanadensis: hebrew
  94. DoofusCanadensis oh, that's translated to sprout? neat
  95. kubyx oh the url was resolving before
  96. kubyx i've been reading it lol
  97. dreamreal kubyx: the front ends cache where they can
  98. kubyx is bytecode.news yours?
  99. kubyx mm
  100. dreamreal so you got it from the cache, one of those articles was NOT cached so I was waiting
  101. dreamreal yes
  102. dreamreal note the author: "by dreamreal" ... and what's my nick?
  103. kubyx do you enjoy writing?
  104. DoofusCanadensis doofus?
  105. kubyx yeah i didn't look
  106. DoofusCanadensis are you doofus?
  107. dreamreal BCN isn't solely my authorship, it's not my blog per se but I do most of the writing
  108. DoofusCanadensis oh wait. that's me
  109. dreamreal kubyx: ... you could say i enjoy writing, yes
  110. kubyx :3
  111. * dreamreal looks at the seven published books, and thousands of bylined articles
  112. dreamreal I've been writing and publishing online since about 2002 :D
  113. dreamreal I'm also probably ohe of those neckbeards you've been complaining about, even though I'm clean-shaven
  114. dreamreal I can't stand beards, they drive me nuts. And if I COULD stand beards, well, RMS would have cured me
  115. dreamreal what a horrible person, I only talked to him three times and that was enough
  116. dreamreal fscking moron
  117. kubyx wow
  118. kubyx i was reading
  119. kubyx oh wait
  120. kubyx RMS is a person lol. thought it was a disease or something(from the sounds of it, not much of a difference)
  121. kubyx my facial hair is bad right now. i ironically have a neckbeard
  122. kubyx i was trying to moustache thing but i don't have any clippers
  123. kubyx so kinda tedious without them
  124. dreamreal https://enigmastation.com/articles/2014/08/08/why-i-cant-stand-the-fsf.html <-- RMS is richard stallman
  125. dreamreal (enigmastation.com is my blog; bytecode.news is a general news site.)
  126. dreamreal That FSF thing feels like an early writer to me, mostly because it was. The 2014 date is when I captured the copy; the original writing would probably have been 1999 or so.
