#java

  1. evilscreww hey
  2. evilscreww who wants to check out my code: https://jumpshare.com/s/Kj6PSAAnw6PRvB3D6euV
  3. nevet TaxCalculator.java
  4. Swayze lol bro we're all busy proof reading our ai-assisted PR's
  5. Swayze unless you're gonna pay thats not happening
  6. dreamreal Swayze: pffft. Biggest problem was timing (ten minutes, on IRC) and not saying what the code was trying to DO to help the review along
  7. jreicher It's true, the quality of drive-by visits has really suffered around here.
  8. dreamreal I was busy writing up https://www.reddit.com/r/java/comments/1t3uqc7/comment/ok17wj4/ (get in the game, noobs, help the site grow and stuff!) or else I'd have looked at the code
  9. dreamreal and looking at the code, I do in fact have comments
  10. dreamreal I feel like I might take today off from work
  11. dreamreal I'm mad at my team
  12. jreicher Why? (Not sure if you want to talk about it.)
  13. dreamreal DM.
  14. dreamreal https://bytecode.news/posts/2026/05/ai-vendors-are-silently-installing-things-for-you
  15. deebo i (accidentally) spent half my token budget convincing claude opus 4.7 (thus the big cost) that spring boot 4 has been released
  16. cheeser we're (well, I, at least) just use sonnet 2.6 everywhere (home and work) and it's fine.
  17. Para Just add boot 4 sources into context.
  18. Para "Why did my one prompt cost 2000 dollars?"
  19. Para I've been happy with Sonnet as well. Step by step only, light agentic work.
  20. deebo yeah my opencode somehow defaulted to 4.7 and i didn't notice, sonnet usually works fine
  21. dreamreal opus took convincing? That's... weird
  22. Para What's the cut-off point of Opus?
  23. deebo tried using qwen3.5 locally, but selfhosting this stuff is still randomly just plain broken
  24. Para We had a weird withdrawal moment for a few members today because our Enterprise OpenAI subscription was closed.
  25. deebo though when it worked, it was fine, even a 9b model
  26. Para Basically one stated that his life is now ruined and another that the company can't do this (ummm). We have Copilot available so it's literally just flipping a switch to get the things back but eh, creatures of habit and all that.
  27. Para (most people didn't even notice)
  28. Para deebo: https://lmstudio.ai/models/qwen3-coder-next
  29. nevet Qwen3-Coder-Next
  30. Para If you have the RAM.
  31. Para Of local models I've been the happiest with that one. Not that I've used it much.
  32. Para I think Gemma4/Gwen3.5 is overhyped or requires some specific configs I'm too dum to apply.
  33. deebo i bought an intel b50 to test this stuff with, but intel recently changed where they put their support efforts (backend wise), these chinesium models only work with bleeding edge llama.cpp etc
  34. Para LM Studio indeed uses llama.cpp at its core through their llmester daemon.
  35. Para So you can run it with fancy UI or as socket server providing a thingycompatible API.
  36. deebo yeah 3.5 requires some weird hoops to jump through, haven't tested 3.6, and i don't think there's smaller versions of it available
  37. Para (my mind's fried today, have had too many meetings so no proper terminology capacity anymore)
  38. deebo yeah i have it running on a k3s server via the openai api, works ok but the tuning and hassle is barely worth it
  39. deebo maybe when one of the ai companies fails and you can find nvidia h200's in trash bins
  40. Para Microsoft apparently has overbought capacity and can't get it to work on Azure.
  41. Para Plus now that OpenAI is basically leaving them I bet that's going to leave a lot of capacity behind.
  42. Para Would be kinda amazing if MS was the first company to be displaced by AI.
  43. dreamreal you mean MS by copilot copilot please god use copilot microsoft windows azure can we fit some more product names copilot?
  44. Para https://teybannerman.com/strategy/2026/03/31/how-many-microsoft-copilot-are-there.html
  45. nevet How many products does Microsoft have named ‘Copilot’? I mapped every one
  46. javabot Para's title: "How many products does Microsoft have named ‘Copilot’? I mapped every one | Tey Bannerman"
  47. Para Somehow next Windows version is rumored to be named K2.
  48. Para Like...why not Windows Copilot. It wouldn't even register for most at this point.
  49. deebo i use copilot in flightsim
  50. Chronos Maybe K2 stands for Kool Kopilot
  51. Para KoolAI'd
