  1. [twisti] i never signed any contributor release forms for my factoids, i demand compensation and representation!
  2. odinsbane ~compensation
  3. javabot odinsbane, what does that even *mean*?
  4. odinsbane ~representation
  5. javabot odinsbane, what does that even *mean*?
  6. odinsbane ~representation is <reply> Find out who authored your favorite factoids at https://javabot.evanchooly.com/factoids
  7. javabot OK, odinsbane.
  8. nevet odinsbane mentioned url: https://javabot.evanchooly.com/factoids ("javabot")
  9. odinsbane Wow 3417 factoids.
  10. odinsbane [twisti]: 25 factoid you most recent being emacs
  11. odinsbane recently used... I could definitely see some compensation for somebody.
  12. Para As per GDPR the factoids with nicks attached is in fact Personal Data (PD definition is "any information which can be linked to a real person directly or indirectly") but I vote for convenienty ignoring that.
  13. [twisti] odinsbane: its even more complicated - the emacs one, for example, isnt mine, i just tacked on the xkcd comic (i think)
  14. odinsbane I was thinking you'd be charged for encouraging people to use emacs.
  15. [twisti] i would never
  16. dreamreal emacs is recent because if-p-then-q :D
  17. dreamreal I'm mostly migrating some of the best factoids, with jwz and the laws being the first
  18. dreamreal and that gives me a chance to stress some of the features, as a result
  19. dreamreal migrating some of the factoids is a pain because the structure of factoids in nevet is different
  20. dreamreal it's doable to just copy them across but that removes some of the things the factoid system is designed for
  21. Para dreamreal: this might be very timley for you https://letsencrypt.org/2026/02/18/dns-persist-01.html
  22. javabot Para's title: "DNS-PERSIST-01: A New Model for DNS-based Challenge Validation - Let's Encrypt"
  23. nevet Para mentioned url: https://letsencrypt.org/2026/02/18/dns-persist-01.html ("DNS-PERSIST-01: A New Model for DNS-based Challenge Validation")
  24. Para ...timely
  25. dreamreal I can read, para
  26. dreamreal "timley" for timely is hardly the worst I'll have seen
  27. dreamreal oooo that WOULD be nice
  28. dreamreal do they support it yet?
  29. Para I think rollout started literally yesterday.
  30. dreamreal I mean, that was published yesterday, what's the holdup?
  31. dreamreal ~certbot
  32. javabot dreamreal, what does that even *mean*?
  33. dreamreal pfft
  34. Para "Staging rollout is planned for late Q1 2026, with a production rollout targeted for some time in Q2 2026"
  35. dreamreal Para: I read it, yes
  36. Para I don't feel like diving into their process docs, sooooo
  37. dreamreal but you're right, that would address what I'm doing quite well :D
  38. Ramazanenescik04 hi
  39. dreamreal morning, etc
  40. dreamreal Para: I guess my main concern would be renewals... but I guess the process is: have the account, slap it into the DNS TXT as shown, then certbot checks the DNS and goes "oh TXT exists, here's your cert sir"?
  41. dreamreal and relies on the local account configuration to validate that YOU actually deserve said cert?
  42. Para Apparently so.
  43. dreamreal Well, they need to hurry up
  44. dreamreal will write a very sternly worded email right now
  45. Bombe Dang, DNS-PERSIST-01 looks beautiful!
  46. dreamreal Bombe: you write a very sternly worded email too!
  47. dreamreal We'll bombard them with sternness!
  48. Para Hello, is this the manager of Lets Encrypt? I would like to file a complaint!
  49. dreamreal mein Gott that is not how it's done
  50. Bombe I would like to fil an appreciation!
  51. Bombe s/fil/&e/
  52. dreamreal "I would like to file a correction, since you people needlessly failed to note a minor error in my last missive. Thou art dropping yon balls, knaves!"
  53. Para It goes without saying that they obviously have done it wrong and should instead fo what we tell them to do.
  54. dreamreal Actually, "thou art dropping yon balls, knaves" is ... poorly done. Should definitely have been "Thou art droppething thy goode packets most grievously out of order, villains and knaves - yea, verily, sooth and forsooth! Egads! ... and I am moste offendedeth that thou hast not corrected even that error, sirrahs."
  55. dreamreal you misspelled "of," para. What's rwong with you?
  56. Para fonly ans
  57. Para I have a microcosm of stupid going on atm, including my keyboard being in a wonky location.
  58. dreamreal That's the excuse I use, too, because I have three screens - THREE, fear me - and my keyboard is actually under the farthest rightmost.
  59. Para also, I just fixed 11 CVEs with one line of config and reduced size of deployment by like 40 megabytes, and found a broken test suite that's been under the radar for like half a year. All in one line.
  60. dreamreal Plus I have cats, and one of them LOOOOOVES to type. She is an atrocious speller.
  61. Para I definitely should not partake in any kind of lottery for a while.
  62. dreamreal hah, wow on the CVEs - good job, mate.
  63. Para Dog ate my homework, cat did my taxes.
  64. * dreamreal writes that down
  65. Para Our Jira sure is loving this PR.
  66. dragonmaster There's always pawsense
  67. dreamreal dragonmaster: ... what
  68. dragonmaster http://bitboost.com/pawsense/index.html
  69. javabot dragonmaster's title: "PawSense helps you catproof your computer, by protecting against cat typing but letting humans use the keyboard freely"
  70. nevet dragonmaster mentioned url: http://bitboost.com/pawsense/index.html ("PawSense helps you catproof your computer, by protecting against cat typing but letting humans use the keyboard freely")
  71. dragonmaster I'm convinced it was a joke, but you can never tell.
  72. dreamreal oh.
  73. dreamreal ~ 5 minute rule
  74. javabot The 5 minute rule states that you can not contribute to a conversation until you have listened to it for 5 minutes to gain context and understanding of where the conversation stands.
  75. dreamreal Sorry, I'd lost context. I want my cat's inability to type exposed to the world, anyway! If she wants to be known as a better typist, she'd better get t' learning.
  76. * dreamreal pets Noelle to soften the blows of harsh reality. It's okay, baby. Not every tortie can spell worth a flip.
  77. * cheeser waves
  78. DoofusCanadensis dreamreal: you see this? https://letsencrypt.org/2026/02/18/dns-persist-01.html
  79. javabot DoofusCanadensis's title: "DNS-PERSIST-01: A New Model for DNS-based Challenge Validation - Let's Encrypt"
  80. nevet DoofusCanadensis mentioned url: https://letsencrypt.org/2026/02/18/dns-persist-01.html ("DNS-PERSIST-01: A New Model for DNS-based Challenge Validation")
  81. dreamreal DoofusCanadensis: no, but para showed it to me, so yes
  82. dreamreal but those bastages haven't made it production code yet
