  25. if-p-then-q Hiya! I'm on the train to my java lecture and decided to look it over, seems like we cover packages today, if I'd waited a week to start my project I may have had an easier time understanding the project structure lol

  63. dreamreal welp, nevet has PEP support. The RFC process isn't idempotent - the first request yields different responses than later requests, but that's because the first request gives you the data from the RFC or whatever, and subsequent requests are factoids.
  64. dreamreal jsr 12
  65. nevet jsr 12: Java Data Objects (JDO) Specification (https://jcp.org/en/jsr/detail?id=12)
  66. dreamreal oh, nevet's muted here :D
  67. dreamreal but this is neat: adding extra spec requests like that is pretty simple.

  84. deebo i was wondering wtf is this new nevet spec, 'nevet pep' google search only brings up post exposure medication for hiv...
  85. dreamreal deebo: /whois nevet :D
  86. dreamreal I'm about to do a new release on it, lots of little fixes as I poke and prod

  92. dreamreal youtube and twitter used to encode the title in the data somewhere; I don't know if they still do, but it was always a pain to work with.
  93. cheeser anti-bot/scraping
  94. dreamreal Yeah. Avoiding the anti-scraping is not that difficult at all; it's a little impolite, but they kinda ask for it by being evil or evil-ish. That still leaves the problem of finding the title.
  95. [twisti] css.select("yt-formatted-string.ytd-watch-metadata:nth-child(1)");
  96. dreamreal right, that's for... youtube, yeah?
  97. [twisti] probably got to adjust that every few months, but less often than the api
  98. [twisti] yeah
  99. dreamreal Which means we need special selectors for that site, which is the whole point I was making.
  100. [twisti] as opposed to a special api for that site ?
  101. [twisti] or just say fuck it, run puppeteer and grab the actual title
  102. [twisti] though that probably opens a whole new can of worms
  103. dreamreal Running puppeteer for an irc bot sounds... uh...
  104. dreamreal I mean, I can just say "if the site matches this, use this selector mechanism" which means I'm just writing selectors/client profiles for twitter and youtube specifically, not too far off from how javabot does it today
  105. dreamreal ~8 ball
  106. javabot Most likely
  107. dreamreal nevet does that with an interpolation: "<reply>(Yes|No|Maybe|Ask me( tomorrow| again| again tomorrow)|It's (unclear|unknowable))."
  108. dreamreal and yes, the expression could be "more efficient." The goal was to get it working, where you can nest the expressions.
  109. dreamreal nevet also does JCP/JSR/RFC lookups but seeds the factoid system with the retrieved information, so now you can annotate jsr 52's text with "don't use this crap!" and such
  110. dreamreal it's still not "ready" - I'm filing new issues pretty often - but a lot of those issues are being fixed with relatively little code.
  111. dreamreal building is a pain - 850+ tests :D
