  112. Para That reminds me, I should dig up my old bug report to see if the silent thread death in Spring Messaging has been fixed. One issue with it is that if the thread fails to catch a thrown exception, the whole Spring core goes into limbo state. Ot at least was at one point.
  113. Para also: that's a really stupid behavior for Kafka offset commit.
  114. dreamreal No, it's not
  115. dreamreal it makes perfect sense in context
  116. dreamreal hey, do me a favor
  117. Para favor
  118. dreamreal pffft
  119. dreamreal post the bytecode.news url to #java! That's the right forum for that discussion anyway
  120. dreamreal I'm still in soft launch mode but I'm trying to actually launch
  121. Para I'll actually read that through first. With my remaining awake brain cells.
  122. dreamreal (there's a new article on that kafka commit thing)
  123. dreamreal of course
  124. Para Slept like three hours last night, apparently a large chunk of city's populace was awaken last night because we had to scramble Hornets as Ukraine is having a drone party on Russia's side near the border and the barbeque's just getting worse.
  125. dreamreal Hopefully the wars and rumors of them will recede as some of the bad actors get taken off the stage. I'm sorry, man.
  126. Para Yeah well, force majeure. Anyways, I'll read + post then.
  127. dreamreal force majeure is the end condition, yes, something people tend to forget
  128. Para also if you want to be entertained, our Hornet pilots are freaking great, here's a demo from some air show last year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc-_UHUeBHY

  130. Para Like even as a layman I was impressed.
  131. dreamreal I'm aware of the fa-18's characteristics, yes :D
  132. dreamreal what's really funny is that our chinese and russian brethren were not aware of what the 18 could really do
  133. Para And our pilots treat them like rally cars.
  134. dreamreal which is why I think 2026 is gonna be a reset year for a lot of actors
  135. dreamreal I hate the turmoil but it only takes one asshat to start a fight
  136. Para I'm going to post that Kafka article to our company Slack's relevant channel as well.
  137. dreamreal piotr's, or mine?
  138. Para I don't expect anyone to read it (it's 2PM over here already, plus aforementioned thing) but hey and whatever.
  139. Para The bytecode.news one
  140. Para Our internal Java and Kafka channels have both become quite quiet lately, so maybe that'll actually entice a reply or a few. Or not, but at least I did my part.
  141. dreamreal thank you :D
